The CLAP project (Children’s Local Affairs Participation) held its first in-person General
Assembly on October 28, 2025, at Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Law in Budapest. Co-
funded by the European Union, this transdisciplinary collaboration aims to develop
advanced methodological and policy recommendations to promote meaningful and
inclusive participation of children in local decision-making.
During the meeting, participants presented the project’s communication guidelines, recent
developments of the Child Participation Toolkit, and discussed potential models for policy
integration, emphasizing the importance of children’s rights in both national and European
contexts. On the preceding day, October 27, ELTE hosted the 9th Polish–Croatian–Hungarian
Legal Studies Conference attended by about 70 participants, where two panels showcased
the CLAP project’s current professional achievements, highlighting the significance of child
rights research and local participation models within the field of legal scholarship.
Project coordination is provided by Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest). Members of the
consortium include Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, the Municipality of Lublin,
the Municipality of the City of Budapest and the Municipality of Ferencváros, as well as child
rights civil society organizations Hintalovon Child Rights Foundation and the Happy Kids
Foundation.
